Logo Design for Embrace Honors MLK

Building on the previous year’s logo, this version was reworked to be more scalable and compact while maintaining a strong connection to the brand. The design pairs Embrace Boston’s iconic heart symbol with bold typography to reflect the power and purpose of the celebration. It honors the Kings’ legacy while centering the joy, love, and leadership the event uplifts.

Color Palette

The color palette builds on Embrace Boston’s existing brand colors, expanding them into bolder, more vibrant tones to match the energy of the event. The blues were pushed further to create depth and rhythm, balancing cooler shades with bursts of warmth and light. There was flexibility in how certain shades were applied, allowing for subtle shifts in saturation and contrast to bring more dimension. The result feels lively and contemporary while staying true to the brand’s visual identity.

Event Illustration

This illustration reimagines Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King on the dance floor — a joyful, unexpected moment that honors their humanity, love, and legacy. Blending photo collage with bold color and graphic textures, the piece sets the tone for an evening rooted in celebration, connection, and collective joy.

Key Illustration

Created as the foundational artwork, this key illustration established the visual language and art direction for Embrace Honors MLK. Designed to be scalable and adaptable across mediums, from digital to environmental graphics, it was built from a series of flexible illustrative elements that allowed the system to expand or simplify as needed.

Inspired by the event’s spirit of joy and collective energy, the artwork combines organic forms, rhythmic patterns, and luminous accents to evoke the feeling of a lively nighttime celebration. The palette and textures nod to community, creativity, and radiance, capturing the essence of music, dancing, and connection that define the Embrace Honors experience.

Event Signage

A cohesive signage system was designed to extend the event’s visual language throughout the venue. From stair wraps to sponsor boards and maps, each piece reinforced the key illustration’s energy while maintaining clarity and legibility. The goal was to create an immersive environment where every touchpoint felt connected, celebratory, and aligned with the Embrace Honors brand experience.

Social Media Graphics & Templates

The same visual system developed for the event signage was adapted for digital use, ensuring a cohesive experience across platforms. A series of templates were created for the social media team to easily reproduce and scale, maintaining consistency while allowing flexibility for ongoing updates. The graphics included countdown posts, save-the-dates, ticket information, and interactive content, each designed to capture attention, build excitement, and extend the event’s visual identity online.
